Nicely painted blown glass ornament of Street Hot Rod.  This is a heavy ornament - probably 1 lb, because it is mercury glass.  Quite spectacular with lots of glitter on grill,  wheels etc.

MERCURY GLASS

For many years during the nineties, Department 56 produced some fabulous oversized Mercury Glass Ornaments.  They are heavier and sturdier than most blown glass ornaments.  While not recommended we have even dropped a few in our time (on the rug) without breaking them as has happened with the thinly blown glass ornaments.
